Local Programs Internship

You are currently undertaking, or have recently completed, graduate level studies in development, social work or a related field, with strong interest to learn and gain practical experience in project cycle management within the development sector.
You are a strong communicator who can work with a wide range of stakeholders. A key constituency of IRAUS is the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community.
You are conscientious in record keeping and proficient in Microsoft office suite and ideally have some knowledge of Office 365 applications including SharePoint.
You have an awareness and knowledge of the Islamic faith and practice and agree to work within our mission and our vision.
The Intern can expect to work on:
Supporting the IRAUS Programs Team with managing a portfolio of local projects through the Project Lifecycle. This includes participating in the development and management of projects.
Assist with the preparation of project proposals and grant applications.
Assist IRAUS’ partner organisations to prepare project proposals.
Working with local partners in the implementation of local development and humanitarian projects. This involves developing the capacity of local organisations to manage their own projects.
Assist with monitoring and evaluation activities.
Data entry and analysis including database and dashboard development and reporting to maintain accurate records of all local projects funded by IRAUS.
Collaboration with Communications and Fundraising staff to provide them with accurate, high quality information about projects and issues for public dissemination.
Identifying, mobilising and supporting volunteers to engage in local projects, events and IRAUS activities.
Drafting communications materials and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, creating articles and web content about IRAUS supported projects.
Promoting innovation, research and experimentation within the IRAUS Team.
A genuine interest in developing community capacity and assisting in establishing sustainable development projects.
Current studies or a completed degree in development studies, social work or a related field.
Fluency in English with strong verbal communications and writing skills. Other language skills desirable.
The ability to commit to two or three full days per week at the IRAUS Sydney Office, for the minimum period of six months.
An awareness of Islamic values and a willingness to work within an Islamic faith inspired environment
Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
