We are a small and dynamic team based in Sydney, going through a period of transformative change with a growing portfolio of staff, volunteers and constituents across Australia.

Who are we looking for?
Islamic Relief Australia (IRAUS) is implementing an exciting growth strategy over the next 5 years. We are looking for an experienced Local Programs Coordinator to develop, manage and quality assure our growing portfolio of local development projects. If you are an experienced program manager, with a commitment to building the capacity of Australian community based organisations, and an interest in working closely with the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community, then we want to hear from you.

The Role
  • Coordinate and manage a growing portfolio of IRAUS supported local social welfare and development projects

  • Work with a network of local offices and partners (NSW, VIC, QLD), and support and motivate volunteers directly involved in programs and projects

  • Coach and support partners to develop and manage quality local projects targeting the needs of vulnerable communities

  • Identify opportunities for IRAUS to engage in local programming in areas consistent with the Program Strategy

  • Review and appraise project concept notes and proposals for IRAUS approval

  • Identify opportunities and seek grant funding from institutional donors

  • Coordinate or facilitate program quality assurance, project monitoring and evaluation activities

  • Experiment and take calculated risks to pilot new programming approaches and develop innovative projects.

  • Represent IRAUS local programs through participation in national and international events, meetings, working groups, and teleconferences

The Successful Candidate must have:
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar programs development and management role

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field

  • Project cycle management skills including financial management

  • Knowledge of community development approaches and project management standards, tools, policies and accountability frameworks

  • Strong facilitation and networking skills to build and manage diverse internal and external relationships

  • Excellent analysis and reporting abilities; ability to independently assess needs and develop creative solutions

  • Cross cultural communication skills and knowledge of Islamic faith values

Salary range $55K-$75 p.a. + Superannuation + Salary Packaging Islamic Relief (IR) promotes equality and meritocracy and seeks individuals who are inspired by our values and capable of working within our Code of Conduct and policy standards on Anti-Corruption and Child Protection.
