Our Work

OUR WORK

Islamic Relief Australia works as a member of the Islamic Relief global family to provide life-saving emergency relief when disasters, crises and conflicts occur.

We help poor and vulnerable people access food, shelter and basic services, including water and sanitation, and healthcare. When the initial period of crises has passed, we work with communities to recover their lives and livelihoods and strengthen their resilience to future disasters.

We also work to provide lasting routes out of poverty through our welfare and sustainable development projects – our integrated approach to relief, recovery and development is transforming communities worldwide.

We tackle the root causes of poverty and make sure that the world’s most vulnerable people have a strong voice and real influence in both our programs and advocacy work.

EMERGENCIES

When an emergency strikes, we aim to be the first on the ground, providing emergency relief and helping those affected immediately. When floods, droughts or earthquakes happen, we’re there: providing life-saving food, water, shelter, medicine and other essential items to families who have lost everything.

Sustainable development

Through our sustainable development work, we empower vulnerable communities all over the globe. Our development programs are not just about providing access to essential services, but understanding the multiple challenges communities face and empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty – for good.
