A devastating 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit Pakistan-administered Kashmir on Tuesday 24 September, leaving 37 people dead and over 722 injured. The death toll is expected to rise as the full extent of the damage emerges in the coming days.
With the core of the earthquake 1km southeast of Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the quake was so strong that tremors were felt as far as Islamabad, Lahore, Jhelum, Swat and Abbotabad.
Homes and roads have been damaged, leaving local communities displaced and in urgent need of shelter, food and emergency care.
